  1. Participate in a Basic or Advanced Certification Course as a course assistant

  2. Once you are approved as an instructor candidate, you’ll work with your mentor and lead instructor to prepare to teach.

  3. Teach a Certification Course within one year of being approved as an instructor candidate.

  4. Lecture your first course, with a staff instructor from NNSC

  5. Set up at least one hands-on exercise

  6.  Lead at least one hands-on exercise

  7. Participate fully in the course

  8. The lead instructor and your mentor will determine if you have passed or failed instructor candidacy, and will send your NNSC evaluation score along with the Instructor Certification and ID number.

  9. Upon successful completion of instructor candidacy, your status will change to Certified Instructor.

  10. Continue working to improve your technical and teaching skills, fulfill your obligations as an instructor, and eventually, consider becoming a lead instructor or a mentor.

  11. There is no limit to the number of times you can teach a Certification Course as an instructor candidate during your one year candidacy period. All instructors must sign an agreement and NNSC contract.​

Necessary Qualifications

  1. Experience in the nightclub/bar security field or in Law Enforcement/Security

  2. No criminal record.

  3. Physically agile.

  4. Top-notch leadership skills.

  5. Outstanding verbal communication skills with the capacity to command attention.

  6. Respectful, supportive, and fair approach to teaching.

  7. Good event planning skills.

  8. Good computer/phone skills and capacity to learn the software used to run the classes.
